The name ‘Brian’ might be pretty ordinary, but it turns out that we’re actually quite fond of it, after police were forced to reconsider plans to give one of their horses a more heroic-sounding name.
Brian the Horse is currently being trained for use in riot patrols by Thames Valley Police, and would have been given a ‘god or war-like name’ like ‘Heracles’, after completing training.
However, a police spokesman has admitted that a lot of people were ‘outraged’ by the name-change, and ‘Brian may keep his name if passes the six-week examination’.
