
A man has been arrested in connection with a series of letter bomb attacks on motoring related businesses.
The 48-year-old was arrested in Woking, Berkshire, late last night under the Mental Health Act.
He called in a national radio phone-in programme claiming that he had sent the letters and wanting to give his reasons why he did it.
Anton Setchell, the police’s national co-ordinator for domestic extremism, said the man apparently wanted to go on air to claim responsibility and explain his reasons for doing it.
‘As a result of quick thinking of the BBC researcher, he did not get on to the live show and the police were immediately contacted,’ Mr Setchell said.
